Friday, November 8 – Please PleaseRock Me @ Smith’s Olde Bar
Please PleaseRock Me is a group that compiles music by and surrounding the Beatles. They go beyond accurate Beatles recreations and also do some songs note-for-note. Their set also includes famous Beatles covers, songs they wrote for other artists, solo material, and songs from other bands they joined or collaborated with.

Friday, November 8 – Bob Sima @ Eddie’s Attic
Bob is a nationally touring singer-songwriter based in Annapolis, Maryland. He burst onto the singer-songwriter circuit by playing in coffee houses, listening rooms, living rooms, and music festivals and by winning slots to perform in major songwriting contests like Kerrville Folk Festival, Mountain Stage, Wildflower, and Falcon Ridge. He then focused his soulful energy, sharing music at spiritual centers, positive music festivals, and other events that promote personal growth and transformation.

Friday, November 8 – Casey James @ Brewhouse Music & Grill
Casey James grew up with a guitar in his hands, and he sang before he could talk. No surprise, then, that his 2012 self-titled debut album from Sony Music Nashville should blend those talents into a blues-soaked country sound all his own. “I never thought in genres growing up,” James says. “And country music is the only place that I can do ‘all of the above.’ There’s no boxes anymore, so I kind of feel like there’s space for me to do a new-age, R&B, bluesy, southern-rock thing. Country music is where I belong.”

Friday, November 8 – Orange Goblin with Holy Grail @ The Earl
Orange Goblin is not just the UK’s reigning champions of balls-out, party-starting, booze-fueled metal, but one of the very best live rock bands of all time. They have been a permanent and universally admired fixture on the British metal circuit for the past 16 years. And now they’re back, with “A Eulogy for the Damned,” their seventh and best studio album. A thunderous tour-de-force of gargantuan riffs, subterranean rumble and electrifying energy, it is the album the band have been threatening to make since they first crawled from the grubby Soho shadows back in the mid-90s.

Friday, November 8 – Sierra Hull @ Eddie’s Attic
Sierra Hull isn’t hampered by boundaries— age, genre or otherwise. She’s already earned considerable respect in the bluegrass world, the IBMA’s voting members having nominated her for no fewer than seven awards over four years—there’s a good chance she’ll be the first woman to win the mandolin category. As a player, a singer and a songwriter, Sierra has remarkable range, the potential to win over ears unfamiliar with Bill Monroe and give performances of broad cultural importance, as she’s done at Carnegie Hall, the Kennedy Center and the National Prayer Breakfast.

Friday, November 8 – Tommy Malone with Geisha Hit Squad @ Smith’s Olde Bar
Tommy Malone exudes a laid-back, down-to-earth style that epitomizes The Subdudes. But his self-assured exterior masks a songwriter who mines heartache and elation, the surreal and the everyday, and who crafts the experiences into instantly memorable tunes. As The Subdudes’ lead guitarist, he punctuates soulful, heart-felt vocals with playing that is at turns joyful, incendiary, melancholic. He’s been writing and playing music for more than three decades – 15 years off and on with The Subdudes, and another decade and half before that with many of the same guys.

Saturday, November 9 – Blitz the Ambassador @ Vinyl
Born and raised in Accra, Ghana, Blitz the Ambassador grew up to the sounds of Afro-Beat, Highlife, Jazz, and Motown. After moving to the U.S. to attend college, Blitz continued to hone his musical skills, releasing several mixtapes as an undergrad at Kent State University. After graduation, Blitz moved to New York City to pursue his dream. In NYC, Blitz began to record, Stereotype, a live-instrument-heavy musical exploration, that tests the limits of Hip Hop. Drawing from his diverse musical background, he dove into the project with explicit intent of changing Hip Hop forever.

Saturday, November 9 – (2 SHOWS) The Greencards @ Eddie’s Attic
From the first down-beat in 2002, through tours with Bob Dylan and Willie Nelson, The Greencards have won hearts and acclaim for their multi-dimentional Americana vision. Drawing on their Aussie upbringings, their American experiences and their restless natures, The Greencards use imagery and instrumentation to evoke moods and suggest movement; the songs themselves ebb and flow like tides.
One show is at 7pm (Doors open at 6). and the other is at 9:30pm (Doors open at 9:15 pm). Tickets are $16.50 in advance and $22 at the door.
Saturday, November 9 – John Vanderslice with Alexander & the Grapes @ 529
Raised in Florida, Georgia, and Maryland, indie rock innovator John Vanderslice grew up listening to a mix of Led Zeppelin, Creedence Clearwater Revival, the Kinks, and Southern rock, which instilled an eclectic musical vocabulary that informed his own songwriting. Forced into piano lessons as a child, he eventually picked up the guitar in the eighth grade and formed several bands during his teen years. His songwriting added influences from David Bowie, the Beatles, Bob Dylan, King Crimson, XTC, and early Genesis, culminating in his five-year tenure with the much-heralded experimental pop band MK Ultra. Their collaboration produced three well-received albums and resulted in an opening spot on two Sunny Day Real Estate American tours. – Billboard

Saturday, November 9 – Rosco Bandana @ Smith’s Olde Bar
The Mississippi septet Rosco Bandana are the product of teenage rebellion and its consequences; of lost love, false starts and, above all, lasting friendship. They’re what happens when a group of kids take a chance on a long shot and – against all odds – it pays off. There’s also a Blur cover thrown in for good measure.

Saturday, November 9 – Holy Ghost Tent Revival @ The Earl
Since forming in 2007, Holy Ghost Tent Revival has played roughly 150 dates per year, released 4 albums, and gained a solid reputation for their eclectic sound and passionate performances. They can be found bringing their blend of Dixieland, Folk and horn-driven Rock and Roll all over the USA, headlining festivals and respected venues year-round. Their third studio album, Sweat Like the Old Days, continues to push genre boundaries and reveals a group of songwriters producing mature, thoughtful lyrics atop lush arrangements. It is a wholly original sound that the band is eager to share with new audiences. With the release of this record, and the beginnings of a new one already underway, there is no doubt a bright and enduring future is on the horizon.

Sunday, November 10 – Active Child with JMSN @ The Earl
Rapor is both the name of Active Child’s new EP and the appellation for the residence in which the music was created (“Ra” means sun. “Por” means house.) It’s where singer and multi-instrumentalist Pat Grossi found sanctuary, refuge, and inspiration in the wake of nearly two years of touring his wildly successful Vagrant Records debut, 2011’s “You Are All That I See.” The record’s gestation included days spent writing instrumentals, building the spine for the melodies and lyrics. Each night, Grossi returned to his creations and sang over it—the mood of the track often acting as a mouthpiece for his subconscious. It’s both meticulously sculpted and stream of consciousness, allowing for ideas and songs.

As a performer, sought-after singer-songwriter and successful executive at the Nashville based record label and publishing company, Better Angels Music, LLC, Gary Ray is a music biz triple-threat. That rare combination of artist, songwriter and music executive gives Gary a one-of-a kind perspective on the business while simultaneously allowing him to direct his own career and artistic goals with insight not often seen in recording artists. Overall, Gary is an artist with a unique sound, whether country, pop or rock, who has the innate ability to weave moving lyrical tapestries with up-tempo, guitar driven melodies and who isn’t afraid to push the envelope when it comes to recording and producing his own music or directing the careers of other up-and-coming singer-songwriters and recording stars.
