Brothers, Keith and Michael Jeffery, along with keyboardist Darren Sell, have been some busy dudes this year. Their band, Atlas Genius, released its debut album, “When It Was Now” earlier this year and immediately received worldwide attention. Two of their singles from the album, “Trojans” and “If So” ranked high on the Alternative Music charts and continue to be played on the radio regularly. The guys are currently on tour in the US with Family of the Year and on select dates, Dale Earnhardt Jr. Jr. and Little Comets.
The tour is going “really well” and “we’re fortunate to be doing this in the US,” said Keith Jeffery, vocalist and guitarist of the band.
Being from Australia, the guys were surprised to learn how energetic the American crowds can be. When asked about their fans in other countries and back home in Australia, Keith said, “They are much more reserved.” Atlas Genius has been touring throughout most of 2013. Luckily, the road is starting to feel more and more like home. “As long as I have my white noise machine I’m good”, explains Keith. He went on to say that he finds it hard to sleep on the bus at times, but finds peace and comfort in the soothing sounds of white noise.
From recording their debut album in a garage turned recording studio, to playing their songs in front of audiences around the world, Atlas Genius been through a whirlwind of a year.
“We’re excited to get back home and begin recording again”, said Keith. The guys will meet up with Imagine Dragons in mid-November for a European tour before they head back to Australia. Keith explained that the band plans to continue to record in the studio they built. Although they have no plans to rent out the space to other bands interested in recording, Keith said it’s definitely something to consider in the future, “especially if they are our friends”.
