688 / Metroplex Reunion
Masquerade Music Park
Saturday October 4th
Scheduled to be the party of the year, the Metroplex/688 Reunion is about to assemble its rank and file after twenty years in the making. From hardcore to heavy metal, from punkers to rockers and everyone in between, people are re-uniting from all over the country with a common and important purpose.
At one time the METROPLEX was the biggest, baddest hardcore club in the South East and beyond. Not just in size, but in popularity and reputation. Circle Jerks, Faith No More, Dead Kennedys, Bad Brains, GBH, UK Subs, They all played. The 688 Club, its predecessor, broke all the great acts of the 80’s. Like REM, Iggy Pop, Violent Femmes, Red Hot Chile Peppers, Black Flag and so many more.
The Atlanta Music Museum has been created to find and organize historical artifacts, photos, videos, and personal stories of the music scene in Atlanta and to preserve it all for posterity. We want to preserve Atlanta’s rich musical history. A history of the musical events and artists that have made Atlanta – The Mecca of a modern day mega- million dollar music industry.
This is a fantastic story of the artists, bands, clubs, studios, events and people that are woven into the rich political and social history of all Atlantans.
So, Saturday OCTOBER 4th a reunion party will be thrown by Paul Cornwell (Metroplex) and Steve May (688), and co-hosted with his old right hand man, Andrew the Mug! All of Atlanta’s great bands are playing and you and everyone everywhere is invited!
