Young America are new to our pretty Georgia music scene, but they definitely are hungry. Go support your own when they play Vinyl on Saturday.
What’s the first gig you ever attended?
I can’t remember the very first show I ever saw but I do remember the first one that my parents allowed me to go to on my own. I was 13 years old, it was held in a church basement in Oakwood, GA and the headliner was “Showbread”. I was absolutely enamored with the energy of their performance and I think that really stuck with me when I started performing myself.
What is the best gig that you ever played/performed?
I’d like to think that every show we play ideally should be better in some way than the last, that being said I think my favorite show musically and performance wise was a couple months ago at Sweetwater in Duluth GA. Everyone in the band just seemed to be having the absolute time of their lives and I think the crowd really noticed.
What is the best gig you have ever seen?
I won’t lie, I haven’t been to near as many shows as I would like but last fall we took a band “field trip” to go see Ryan Bingham at the 40 Watt Club in Athens, GA, it was amazing. If you ever have the chance to see him play live I would highly recommend it.
What is the gig you would most like to play?
At this point I think all of us in the band could agree that playing something like the CMA’s or Grammy’s would be the dream gig. That, or a cool festival like South By Southwest.
What would be the lineup for your dream gig?
To answer this question with the most sincerity I will need to reserect a few folks to play with but something along the lines of a huge show where we would open for Gram Parsons, Bob Dylan, The Eagles, The Band, Hank Williams, Townes Van Zandt, Johnny Cash, and then probably close out the night with Wilco, Garth Brooks, and The Killers. hahaha
