The often amorous, and occasionally frightening NOBUNNY (one word, all caps) has been captivating audiences of dedicated fans and new believers since Easter 2001 (the day Joey Ramone died). Born in the desert outside of Tucson AZ, Nobunny started as an animal Elvis impersonator before deciding to try out his hand at songwriting. The raucous rabbit’s music is a intoxicating concoction of all the rights and wrongs that make up the heart and the soul of real rock n roll. Songs that sound as though they were written at the Brill building by a punk rock mutant back from the future. What’s the first gig you ever attended?
First musical performance that I saw was Ella Jenkins when I was really young like 2 or 3. The first “concert” that I bought a ticket thru Ticketmaster was Fishbone with Murphy’s Law, and HWA (Ho’s Wit Attitude). The first “show” was Los Crudos.
What is the best gig that you ever played/performed?
I like playing everywhere. The bad ones are often the best cuz I can laugh about them later. House shows are always fun. While not a typical house, nor our best, its pretty tough to top the Playboy Mansion as a stand out favorite show.
What is the best gig you have ever seen?
Bloodshot Bill in Chicago last year was one of the most impressive shows ive seen by anyone ever, and he was sitting down! The Cramps exploded my teenage brain live.
What is the gig you would most like to play?
I’ve pretty lucky to play some dream gigs already. Mansions, weddings, boats, senior centers. Women’s prison or a girls reformatory school would be cool. Still haven’t been to Japan.
What would be the lineup for your dream gig?
If we are talking time machines, then i’d have to go with some “classics” like Beatles, Ramones, Velvet Underground, Bo Diddley, Hank Williams. Maybe a weirdo bill with the Shaggs, Blowfly, Jan Terri, David Arvedon, and The Fugs. I could go on n on as I am absolutely a big ol’ fan of music, bands, performance, records, n rnr. I want it all. To play everywhere with everyone would be pretty cool.
