As one-half of The Everybodyfields, Jill Andrews, has been in the folk rock/Americana world for quite some time. She is touring around the country supporting her solo career, and is bringing her addicting show to Eddie’s Attic on Saturday. She joined us for our 5GB series before the show.
What’s the first gig you ever attended?
When I was in high school I went to see Scott Miller at The Down Home in Johnson City, TN. He was playing solo that night and it was incredible. He is still one of my favorites and now we are friends.
What is the best gig that you ever played/performed?
I’ve played at amazing venues like The House of Blues and The Fillmore, but some of the best shows have been at small, out of the way places. There was a house show in Madison, WI that these two really nice folks put on. It was in their basement that fit about 30 people. Strands of colored Christmas lights provided the lighting and the audience sat on the floor. It was nothing fancy or glorifying but it was one of the best nights.
What is the best gig you have ever seen?
RicharGillian Welch and David Rawlings at The Bijou Theatre in Knoxville, TN. They had just recently released “Time the Revelator.” It was the most beautiful show I have ever seen. There was no production, no light show, or jumping around, just the two of them with acoustic guitars. My friend Amy and I cried the entire show.
What is the gig you would most like to play?
I would love to play at The Ryman in Nashville someday.
What would be the lineup for your dream gig?
It would be really cool to play with Wilco and Neko Case.
