What’s the first gig you ever attended?

The first concert I remember attending was Conway Twitty. I was very young. My parents were huge fans. I remember his microphone fell all to pieces in the middle of the show!

What is the best gig that you ever played/performed?

The best gig I ever played would probably have to be ABC’s “Good Morning America”. There was something very special about looking out the window onto Times Square and seeing the people singing along to my song…I know you didn’t ask but its worth mentioning… the weirdest thing that’s ever happened to me at a gig was when I saw a guy in the crowd die only about 10 feet away from me while we were onstage in the middle of my set! As soon as the paramedics carried him out the door and drove off with him, the club owner raised his glass to the deceased and told us to keep on playing!!!

What is the best gig you have ever seen?

The best gig I have ever seen… hmm… Willie Nelson in Nashville and Jerry Lee Lewis in Muscle Shoals were great, and Garth Brooks was awesome at the Pyramid in Memphis, but I haven’t seen as many live shows as I would like to have seen because I’m on the road quite a bit, but I really love watching concerts on video or online as much as possible. A couple I really love are Death Cab For Cutie on VH1’s “Storytellers” and Nirvana on MTV Unplugged. Very cool.

What is the gig you would most like to play?

I would really like to play Letterman or Leno, any of the music related shows like Austin City Limits, MTV Unplugged, or VH1’s Storytellers, most any of the legendary clubs on the Sunset Strip in L.A., a huge outside stage in New York’s Central Park, and also, I’ve played Good Morning America and The CBS Early Show but I haven’t had the privilege of playing the Today Show and have always wanted to. Ha! I know you didn’t ask for multiple, but it is way too hard to narrow it down to just one!

What would be the lineup for your dream gig?

The Beatles, The Rolling Stones, Buddy Holly, Jerry Lee Lewis, Bob Dylan, Elvis, Ray Charles and Me. Well, you did say ‘dream’ didn’t you? 🙂  Realistically, I would love to go out on the road with Adele, Kings of Leon, Bruno Mars or The Black Keys.
