Hannah Miller‘s literate style blends blues, folk and gospel which, when led by her disarmingly intimate alto, feel immediately familiar and compelling. Miller’s song “Keep It Simple” was licensed by NBC for the prime-time medical drama “Mercy” and outfits like Performing Songwriter Magazine, Lilith Faire, MTV, The International Songwriting Competition and iTunes’ “Indie Spotlight” have all taken notice. She is celebrating her CD release party tomorrow night at Eddie’s Attic, and joined us for our 5GB series.
What’s the first gig you ever attended?
Ok, if I’m being embarrassingly honest here, my earliest memory of attending a concert would be when Carman (an 80’s Christian music sensation) came to the fair in my hometown of Dothan, AL. I had to be under the age of 5….I hope…
What is the best gig that you ever played/performed?
Gosh, sometimes it’s easier to remember the bad ones than the good ones! why is that? Anyways, one of the best ones in recent memory was the show I got to play at Nashville’s Bluebird Cafe, it was “in the round” with me, Matthew Perryman Jones, Thad Cockrell and Angel Snow. All of those guys are big musical heroes of mine, so it was such an honor to share the stage with them that night.
What is the best gig you have ever seen?
Hmmm…again, in recent memory, that’d have to be Iris Dement at the Belcourt, here in Nashville.
What is the gig you would most like to play?
so many….anything in Europe would be amazing, also places like Mountain Stage in West Virginia, or the Birchmere in VA, or the Cayamo Cruise, the Grand Ole Opry…too many to list!!
What would be the lineup for your dream gig?
hmmm…maybe me opening for Elton John and Tom Petty on their co-headlining European tour 🙂
