The gentlemen in the Alan Evans Trio are well accomplished musicians individually and have shared the stage with Steely Dan, Michael MacDonald, Chicago and Earth, Wind & Fire. Collectively they have been playing music for 13 years, and are bringing their show to the Atlanta Room tonight. They joined us for our 5GB series before the show.
What’s the first gig you ever attended?
The first gig that I can remember was Oscar Peterson. I must have been 6 or 7 years old. It sparked my love of jazz at an early age.
What is the best gig that you ever played/performed?
Honestly, I can’t give a best gig–there’s been so many great ones over the years. One that sticks out in my head would be House Of Blues L.A. when Stevie Wonder sat in with us.
What is the best gig you have ever seen?
Again, I’ve been attended so many great shows, it’s hard to say. One of the best I’ve ever been to would be Public Enemy in Buffalo, NY 1989.
Gig you would most like to play?
Tough one. I’m thankful for every gig I play, so I try to be in the moment and love them all.
What would be the lineup for your dream gig?
Royal Family Ball with the entire crew — Soulive, Alan Evans Trio, NEAL., Lettuce, etc. at Radio City Music Hall would be fun.
